Safe Haven, Warlord, and many Children’s books on 9/14

After some banter on the radio about children’s book releases and Cameron’s interest level, we covered a long release list (520) in small bites.

Nicholas Sparks’ new book is Safe Haven and it seems to be a safe choice gift for anyone.  Ted Bell has a new Alex Hawke novel titled Warlord.  Carl Elliott wrote White Coat, Black Hat, an expose on the “dark side of medicine”.  Pinheads and Patriots is the latest offering from Bill O’Reilly.  Wicked Appetite is the latest from Janet Evanovich.  One of the more interesting yearly issues, out today, is the 2011 version of Guinness World Records.

Children’s books of note today include the 44th Magic Tree House, A Ghost Tale for Christmas Time, 3 new Christmas books from Golden Books, Breathless by Lurleen McDaniel, Bink and Golie by Kate DiCamillo and many picture books from Leo Lionni and others.

For the teens, Ellen Hopkins has a new book in the Crank series, titled Fallout, and Shadowland from Alyson Noel.

We talked about the Oprah book (number 64) due out on Friday (17th).  For years, Oprah has disguised the title and author until she announces it on her TV show on the release date.  Exhibit A of control freaks and ratings inflation.  Speaking of ratings ploys, 6 of today’s titles were by and about Temple Grandin.

Two heads up advisories on pre-orders – both on November 9:  Diary of Wimpy Kid #5 and George W. Bush memoirs.

‘Nuff Said for now.
